Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins.

The purpose and function of this ministry is to evangelize, disciple, strengthen, and empower men to become God’s men.  God’s man is not only a man that belongs to God, but his behavior is consistent with the moral nature of God.  This ministry is designed to develop men who will in turn develop other men.  We believe that God’s design and order is that men function as leaders of the home and the church.  Thus the ministry is a type of school for “elders”, men who will function according to 1 Peter 5:1-4 in the home and church.

This ministry will function to help nurture the new man created in Christ unto good works.  Specifically to equip men to develop Christian homes, to teach Biblical principles in the home, to create a context for genuine fellowship among men in the church, to develop boys into men through Christian mentoring, to train men to evangelize and disciple other men, to teach fathers to effectively relate to children and wives, to teach sons to effectively relate to parents, to assist men in properly relating to women to the glory of God, to teach men how to live victoriously in a secular world, to define the role of men in the church and equip them to function responsibly to the edification of the church and the glory of God.

The deacons and deaconess assist the pastor in the shepherding ministry.  The ministry consists of each deacon being responsible for caring for families within the church.  The ministry is spiritually based, but holistic in approach.  The nature of the deacon’s role in this ministry is that of a servant.  His fundamental concern is the spiritual growth of the family as a unit in relationship to the local congregation.

Marriage Ministry

The purpose of this ministry is two-fold: to disciple married couples and to guide marriage in becoming evangelistic.  The evangelistic nature of the ministry will grow out of its discipleship nature.  The discipleship purpose is to strengthen marriages so that they can be an expression of the church of Jesus, the Christ.  The ministry’s aim is to develop Christian marriages wherein Jesus is Lord, the Bible is followed, and the Holy Spirit is the power to enable the couple to perform God’s demands on the marriage.

Media & Technology

The IT ministry will serve the body of Christ in the development and growth of knowledge through communication and information for the purpose of evangelizing using modern technology.  Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. We also maintain an active Facebook for additional church communication. This ministry functions on a servitude basis edifying of the body through audio, visual, and computerized technology.

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. This ministry creates a consciousness of the presence of God and an atmosphere of worship which will lead the congregation to experience worship.  This ministry is not one of entertainment but rather of leading the congregation to attribute worth to God.  This ministry will serve as a forerunner to the preaching of the Word of God and thus should be designed to complement the Word.  The music of the church should be biblically based at all times, conveying a message of hope, encouragement, good news, and praise to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The purpose of this ministry to help singles embrace God where you are not and to be satisfied with who God is molding you to be.  It is NOT the goal of this ministry to get all singles married but to assist singles in living consecrated, purpose driven lives and to assist them in the knowledge and understanding on how to maximize their singleness for the glory of God.  IT IS the goal of this ministry to minister to the needs of the never married, widowed, and divorced persons, encouraging them to stay committed to Christ and allow them room to function as a vital part of the body of Christ.  It is also the goal to create a wholesome environment that will allow singles to fellowship and interact in a manner that will bring God glory.

The mission of the Ushers is to greet everyone with a smile, kindness, and courtesy; and to serve willingly in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  What is an Usher? A watchman, doorkeeper, forerunner, and a servant.

Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. ~Psalm 127.1

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. ~Psalm 84:10

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. ~Malachi 3:1

“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”  -John 12:26

This ministry has much the same purpose and function as the Men’s Ministry except that it is for women.  It is a ministry designed to empower women to become God’s women, belonging to God and behaving in a manner consistent with the moral nature of God.

This ministry is designed to nurture women through discipleship.  The purpose of this nurture is to develop a spiritually, socially, mentally, and emotionally whole woman who can be an authentic witness in her concentric circle of influence.

This ministry will include women of the church, whether single or married.  It will also relate to other ministries in the church.  It will be concerned with evangelizing women, engaging in mission projects, and developing girls into women.  These women will not merely function within the women’s ministry but throughout the church fellowship.  However, God’s order and design will be followed in that women will not serve in the pulpit preaching, elder or deacon functions. (1 Timothy 2:8-13; 16).  The women should share in the ministries of the church like Mary, Martha, Elizabeth, Dorcas, Phoebe, Pricilla, Lois, and Eunice.  We must note that Paul’s admonishment for women to keep silent in the church had reference to speaking in tongues and not in ministry activities.

The Youth Ministry is committed to reaching every aspect of the Christian community, especially the youth for they are the heritage of the Lord.  The primary purpose of this ministry is to assist the home in guiding young people, who are in transition, into a saving or deeper relationship with Christ.  This ministry will help youths develop a lifestyle that reflects Jesus, aid in their spiritual growth and gift enhancement, strengthen their knowledge of Him, equip them with sound biblical doctrine and biblical principles and to help the youths to understand themselves physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually while they are in this transition.
